Don’t suffer scrolling through dozens of Medium’s new profile pages. My table-of-contents (TOC) includes a brief synopsis with my top stories + a list of all others.

How the TOC works

The most significant stories in each category will include a short synopsis, not the full screen with picture as shown in Medium’s profile. …

Diabetes; Health

Daily activities, from meal times & content to lifesaving intervention. You’re not diabetic but know someone who is — your life just changed.

My introduction to diabetes

My wife of 20 years is Type 1 diabetic and we, coworkers, neighbors and strangers have had to contend with everything in this article. I knew nothing about it in the beginning. Diabetes was just an impersonal term. My examples come from personal experience.

How I dropped my weight 40 pounds and kept it off for 31 years without special diets or exercising

I start to notice my weight

People around me have talked about their diets for years, but nothing ever changes. Why?

Diets don’t work
Because they attack the wrong…

Personal Philosophy

It’s the compliment everyone sees. Actions speak louder than words.

How others see us

People, i.e. strangers, frequently comment on how they love watching us dancing together. Odd since I don’t know how to dance. One lady even gave us a red rose.

That is today. It started years ago.

During our vacation in Cancun, Mexico, the waiter told us that we were not like most couples. All of the staff had noticed. We asked what he meant. …

Women risk all for sex, men risk nothing. Equalize the risks, then both sides, fleeing the hysteria & faulty logic, will find a solution.

A unique approach

My proposal could change the entire debate, culture and infrastructure of the United States.

The study is based on 1,051 comments from four conflicting, controversial articles. Only 50% were logical responses to something!

Recently, my letter-to-the-editor was published in the Villages-News, an online local newspaper. Readers are encouraged to make comments. Some were the most hate-filled, ignorant posts I have ever seen, even worse than Twitter. Here are a few examples. I discovered I was a:

Radical Democrat, RINO, communist, Nazi, demoRat, Trumpublican, Brain addled leftist, uneducated cultist, QAnon, Democult, racist fool, homophobe, white supremacist, MAGA, tRumptard, and Republican criminal. Then, I should go back to middle school, visit the priest or Rabbi, lay off the drugs, or drink some Kool-Aid (kill myself). …

Racism, sexism, and other prejudices

Cursory speech, thoughts and slogans won’t work to change the momentum

I grew up in an all-white town in Indiana. I still am embarrassed by a racist remark I made 51 years ago. It was part of the language and I didn’t even realize what I said until later.

For me, it was a wake-up call!

Racism, sexism, and other prejudices are built into the language and culture. From that time on, I looked for such prospects.

It takes years, decades and centuries to change a culture significantly. Unless a person is open to change and has thought about it, change will not happen. …

Three attacks on the United States in 80 years. Impeachment’s important because that one was internal.

The United States has been attacked three times during the lifetime of some of the Senators sitting in judgment.

Two attacks were external and one was domestic. Although the external attacks took more lives, the internal one is still having major repercussions. The Senate is in a position to make it even worse.

The attacks — Ranked

Although deaths are important, the ranking is based on the immediate and potential impact on the entire country and people not directly involved.

What a surprise

Studies actually found a pattern in 20-year stages. We surprisingly reversed its final stage!!

At one time, I was terrified to get on a dance floor, speak in front of people, and do any other activity that put me in the spotlight. That was true even if I was in the middle of a crowd, like on a dance floor. Other dancers around me were watching, judging!

That all changed around age 38 when I had to teach a computer class from videos at work. The first day, I said “Please fill out these forms.” Those papers rattled, they shook so much. …

Setting Precedents

This is not about a single election, but the values of each senator and integrity of the Constitution.

More than anybody else in the United States, the President’s words have meaning. Some people, especially brainwashed fanatics, will believe anything and, as we saw on January 6, follow instructions.

Republicans are supposed to be the Law and Order party, but most tried to ignore their duties under the Constitution when put to the test.

It appears the statute of limitations applies to the Charge most of the time, but not the trial. Other laws apply for a speedy trial. The impeachment was passed before Trump was out of office and the trial was scheduled quickly. …
