A good boss knows what motivates each person and what is a demotivator. I saw one study that showed that it costs one year salary to find, hire and train a new person. Throwing tantrums and bullying people will cause the top performers to leave. They won’t put up with it. So, a bad boss not only increases personnel costs dramatically, they reduce productivity and quality. I always assumed that everyone wants to do a good job. It is the job of a boss to put them in a position to do so.
