Enron Corporation started as a collaborative environment (2nd viewpoint) under Lay, and then changed to a cutthroat organization (1st viewpoint) under Skilling.

They spun off parts that did not fit the new ideology. It thrived for a while. Then it went into a death spiral when they made one mistake.

Both viewpoints exist simultaneously.

For view #1, the idea “It’s only when masses of similarly oppressed people come together to actively resist…” naively believes that the replacement will be better than whatever was replaced.

The view does not change, just the participants. Those with that view also lack the patience required for change. They, by definition, can never be truly happy or satisfied.

Those with view #2 may never get out of their situation, but they can live with themselves. To change, they may require luck and a very long time frame. My article, What are Your Values — Write them down applies more to them.

I suspect that I fit more into view #2.
