I am about the same age and I would hate to go back to work.

The real problem I see at this age is mortgage, rent and debt. If someone is debt-free and living in a decent location, cost-wise, they can probably get by on Social Security. It won’t help your parents, but everybody’s goal should be to retire debt-free.
