I discovered most of these by accident, before cell phone apps existed. For me, I would add two additional items:
- Don’t work too many hours in a row. When I got tired, I started making mistakes, i.e. adding program bugs that had to be fixed the next day. Overtime reduced productivity. My goal was never to work overtime. I got fired from one job for leaving after 8 hours. I didn’t care.
- I gave my brain assignments, then read science fiction or watched movies and didn’t think about it again. When I woke up the next morning, the solution was there.
