I fully agree that Star Trek prods the intellect and Star Wars is brainless shoot-em-up action.
An even worse example is Starship Troopers. The book, which I rated 5 stars, posed a society of personal responsibility that could happen today. The movie, which I rate 1 star because there is nothing lower, brought nothing from the book except the character names.
Then, at age 67, I read “Starstruck,” a teenage, sci-fi, romance novel by the romance novelist Brenda Hiatt. It was so much better than Harry Potter! Same comparison. It was so good that I read a romance novel for the first time in my life. See my article:
