I had one person fired for just that reason. As a computer consultant and developer, he made our customers too upset. The only other person I ever had fired was plain incompetent.
In my second project out of college, the Director even had part of the report design laid out for our first meeting. The last thing he said as I was leaving, “We want to know where we stand.” His request would not give him that.
I proposed something radically different. He presented the finished product the next year at a national convention as the best in the country.
You have to pay attention to everything. Your article’s mismatch should have been identified long before that presentation.
