I hope that these were the exceptions and not the rule about dating app ads. I met my wife on a dating app 19 years ago.

You need to know in advance the type of person that interests you and will be a good fit. Both have to be true. You have to know yourself, first.

My wife’s ad on Match said, “Intelligence is important.”
Mine said, “Bugs Bunny is my hero.” (a very subtle message, here).

My ad on Match.com also said:

> I am not looking for a maid, cook, laundress,
> dishwasher or sex object. I’m looking for a partner
> and companion…
