I see that nothing has changed.
I went through this discussion around 1985:
--> Me: I program mainly in FOCUS (far more powerful than SQL and relational databases, which were a step backwards for me)
--> Him #1: That’s not real programming. Cobol and Fortran are real programming.
--> Him #2: That’s not real programming. Assembler is real programming
--> Him #3: That’s not real programming. Write in Machine Code – ones and zeros only (0,1).
This was before the internet.
My first program out of college in 1969 increased the company’s market share by 20% of the market, not just 20% of their share – much more that 10 million in 1969 dollars.
