I was curious when I saw two job titles — Technical Writer and Content Writer. In my last job with a small publisher before I retired, we had no writers on the IT staff. I was ridiculed by my coworkers for writing user instructions with my software.
I was out 5 weeks for surgery. When I returned, one editor sent me this email, “I didn’t know how spoiled I was until you were out.”
A good technical or content writer delivers technical information in a form that a non-technical person can understand it. It seems that the content writer can add more fluff and fewer details.
Thanks for the comparison.
