It’s nice to know that Edison and I have something in common.
What I tell people, “I give my brain an assignment, read science fiction or romance novels, go to sleep, and wake up with solutions.”
One manager took advantage of that. He gave me horrible problems before I went home instead of waiting until morning when I was rested, like he would with everybody else.
One Monday, he said, “Tomorrow, we want you to write an app run a phone bank to schedule gas hookups in Puerto Rico. We have a file of customers and technicians. Let us know if you can do it.”
The next morning, I said “I can but you can’t bother me with a bunch of questions.” The demo was on Wednesday. They planned to send me there on Saturday. On Thursday, the government said that they would not allow the hookups.
That was the only time in my career to ride in a corporate jet. Stupid government!
