I took a pack of sugar home and measured it. One can of Coke contains 24 packs of sugar. I drank 5 per day, 120 packs. I lost weight when I quit.
Also, sugar comes in many forms. For example, 15 grapes, ½ banana, one orange, 12 potato chips, 7 French fries, 1/3 bag of microwave popcorn, one ounce of bread, ½ cup of ice cream and one tablespoon of sugar are all one carb, which requires one unit of insulin. Some carbs are fast-acting, like pure sugar, and others are slow, like whole wheat bread. My wife is diabetic and counts all carbs.
