There is probably a peak value for a simple developer, even if a senior.
A large group will still need a few, but if you follow the career path of 100 juniors, the industry will probably need only 10 of those at the senior developer level. Of the other 90, they have to find another way to add value besides plain coding.
I had this at the top of my resume: “I solve problems.” I did it as a developer.
I got my last position at age 65. They didn’t ask about my last salary. The pay met my needs and my goal was to have fun until I retired at 70 and a quarter. I solved 2 problems that they didn’t know that they had.
