There is so much in this article that people ought to be aware of, but aren’t!
I never consciously set out to be a leader. I never had a management position. I just solved problems and trained others to have the skills to do the same by building computer apps, large and small (programmers, managers and clerks; even if only for themselves). I also had them look at the entire problem, not just their little piece.
You are correct about values. They provide the foundation for everything. That was the hardest question anybody ever asked me: “What are Your Values — Write them down”.
Looking back on my career, I had far more influence on people’s careers than any of my management or trainers.
