These are good ideas. Perhaps I will spend some time reviewing publications.
I followed a different path. My first article, in an engineering magazine in 1982, sold more than 10,000 reprints (paper, before the internet). It was based on a product that made relational databases and SQL a big step down. I was frustrated by SQL until I retired 3 years ago.
The other tips I generally do now. And you are correct about training others. I learned almost as much as they did.
