To solve a problem, one must know what it is. The top of my resume stated that “I solve problems.” I can’t help myself just like I count everything.

It starts with asking a whole lot of questions. The real problem, if it exists and can be identified, may be something entirely different from the original conversation.

Frequently, just by asking questions, the person comes up with their own solution. I have had that happen when I just sat there and listened like a pet monkey.

People giving unsolicited advice usually don’t get that far. No wonder you shut down.
