When writing, you can’t worry about what anybody else does or how fast they are.
As for rewrites, I thought that my first article for a technical journal in 1982 was great, and ready to be published.
My boss sat down with two red pens to proofread it. It looked like he had a hemorrhage. Not one paragraph survived fully intact.
The rewrite got published.
That was before the internet. If you wanted an official copy, you had to order one from the publisher. It sold over 10,000 reprints around the world.
As for the time to write something, I did take a time challenge and wrote “The Challenge: Write an Article on a Given Topic in 4 hours.” I finished it, but I would never want to write that way again.
I even take a few minutes and rewrite my comments before I copy them from Word.
