I was supposed to ‘find out what they want’ under the one-day-consultation project that was set up for that purpose. I found out what they wanted, then designed, wrote and implemented a new app in 6 hours coordinating production between 2 factories. I let my management know the next day.

They couldn’t fire me because I was too popular with the engineering (200 engineers) and production management.
